Plan and organize the preparation and cooking of food in dining and catering establishments. Cooks, Fast Food Cooks and Kitchenhands are excluded from this unit group. Cooks are included in Unit Group 3514 Cooks. Fast Food Cooks and Kitchenhands are included in Minor Group 851 Food Preparation Assistants.

WHAT IS THE JOB READY PROGRAM(JRP)?

• Skills assessment program that provides you opportunity to demonstrate your skills and job readiness obtained during your studies.

• With JRP you can obtain the provisional skills assessment for the 485 grad visa and when you finish, get the full skills assessment for employer sponsorship or general skilled migration for residency

Criteria for Visa 485

Application for Visa Type 485 should be made within 6 months of finishing of your study

Education

Application must accomplish at least a Trade Certificate in a course which will lead to a skills assessment for the 485 graduate visa

Australian Study

Completed a course in Australia which has taken at least 2 academic years

English Assessment

Applicant must have English exams and get equivalent scores of: IELTS-6, OET B, PTE 50 or TOEFL 64

Skill Assessment

Satisfactory Provisional Skills Assessment for approved occupation

Completing the

Provisional Skills Assessment

• Completed qualification relevant to an occupation assessed by TRA (ex. Chef, Mechanic, Chid Care Centre Manager)
• There should be evidence of relevant employement (with a minimum of 360 hours, ex. OJT)

Job Ready Employment

• Apply JRE once you only have less than 4 months remaining on your student visa.
• Complete at least 1,725 hours of paid employment in a span of at least 1 year to complete the full skills assessment

Job Ready Workplace Assessment

• Is conducted in your workplace by an assessor from a TRA-approved registered training organisation.

Job Ready Final Assessment

• This is the final step, where pay slips or other acceptable evidence to substantiate that you have been in paid employment for at least 1725 hours over a minimum of 12 months, with Journals covering a minimum of 12 months.
